Why I Built Kinduru
Hi, I’m Nate.
I’m neurodivergent and I’ve always struggled in traditional education. As a child, I experienced what I now recognise as sensory overwhelm. I cried before school most mornings and by secondary school, my attendance had dropped to just 30%. I skipped classes, not because I didn’t want to learn, but because I needed to learn differently. I used to steal books so I could study at home, where it felt safe and calm.
Years later, I became a stepdad to an incredible young man and I watched him face the same battles I knew all too well. Like many families during COVID, we trialled a form of home-schooling, and it worked. But when he returned to mainstream school, the struggles returned too. We tried public schooling, which helped for a while, but it was clear that long-term, the system just wasn’t built for how he learns.
So we made a choice: to home-school properly, on our own terms. Since then, he’s changed in ways I didn’t know were possible. He’s calm, confident, and genuinely happy. We’ve moved away from rigid timetables to task-based learning that fits him and it works.
I know how overwhelming it can feel when the system doesn’t work for your child. That’s why I created Kinduru to share what’s working for us with others who need something different.
Alongside this, I bring over 20 years of experience in graphic design and have built multiple successful businesses. Now I’m using that experience to build something that matters a flexible, affordable, family-first way to educate at home.
If this sounds like it could help you, you’re in the right place.
FAQs
Who is Kinduru for?
Kinduru is for curious families who want learning that goes beyond the usual school subjects. Our shop is packed with ready-to-use lessons on skills rarely taught in classrooms from understanding the stock market to managing money, creative problem-solving, and more. Whether your child learns differently, is hungry for fresh challenges, or just loves exploring new ideas, Kinduru gives them tools they can use for life.
Are the lessons aligned with the national curriculum?
Not exactly and that’s the point. Our focus is on life skills, creative thinking, and practical knowledge you won’t often find in standard lessons. While some courses touch on maths, English, and science skills, Kinduru resources are designed to prepare children for the real world, not just exams.
Do I need to be a teacher to use these lessons?
No teaching experience is needed. Each course comes with clear instructions and a structured, step-by-step format. You can guide your child’s learning with confidence or let them work independently if they prefer.
Do I need to be good at using a computer?
Not at all. Every lesson is delivered as a simple PDF you can download, open, and use straight away. No special software, no complicated logins, just practical learning, ready when you are.
What age group is this suitable for?
Kinduru currently offers content best suited to ages 11 to 16, with future plans to expand to other age bands. Our content is task-based and adaptable, so you can scale or simplify based on your child’s needs.

Disclaimer
I am not a certified teacher. I am a parent, and someone who has learned through lived experience what works and what does not work for children who do not fit the traditional mould. I believe mainstream education has its place and works well for many children, but for a significant minority, it does not. And for those children, there is often very little flexibility or support. That is the gap Kinduru is here to help with.
What we offer is not tutoring or one to one teaching. We are not trying to replicate school at home. Instead, Kinduru provides a growing collection of flexible, task based courses designed for curious learners aged eleven to sixteen. Each course includes ten lessons, with four structured tasks per session. It is a format built for consistency, calm, and independence.
Our approach is rooted in real-world learning, and closely follows the Key Stage Three syllabus in core areas such as Maths, English, and Science. While we are not an exam board and do not offer formal accreditation, we aim to support long term understanding, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. For families preparing for assessments, our content can sit alongside trusted resources like CGP Books, Collins, or BBC Bitesize.
This is about making learning feel achievable again. We are not here to replace the education system entirely, but to offer something that feels more human, more adaptable, and more suited to families who need a different path.
We believe that parents not systems know their children best. Our role is not to take over, but to equip you with clear tools and gentle structure. Whether you are building a full learning week or simply looking for meaningful tasks to guide each day, Kinduru is here to help you create an education that fits your child, not the other way around.
You remain the guide. We simply make the journey easier.
